Sink or Swim is a poetic depiction of depression through underwater ballet, commissioned by mental health charity MIND and scored by Major Tom composer Matt Dunkley. The film delves into the mind of a woman in the depths of depression battling to keep her head above water. Created with the support of Studio Wayne McGregor and starring Francesca Hayward, a principal dancer with The Royal Ballet with choreography by Charlotte Edmunds the film was inspired by an oil painting of Northern Irish artist Ian Cumberland, in which he depicts himself submerged, fully clothed, in a bath of water.
