Journey's End is the feature length adaptation of the seminal play by R.C. Sherriff. Directed by Saul Dibb (Bullet Boy, The Duchess, Suite Francaise) starring Sam Claflin, Asa Butterfield, Paul Bethany, Stephen Graham and Toby Jones. Set over 4 days in March 1918 in the trenches on the front line, a small group of soldiers wait to be bombarded by enemy artillery, anticipating certain death. The story charts the tension and claustrophobia of the officers’ dug-out as new recruit, 18-year-old Lieutenant Raleigh joins the Company commanded by 20 year old Captain Stanhope, his former childhood friend and hero, who has changed almost beyond recognition. The soundtrack was created and produced by Major Tom using a combination of stark, minimal, manipulated cello and violin pieces by Icelandic composer Hildur Guðnadóttir and original compositions by Natalie Holt. Together they create a haunting, foreboding and unsettling collage of eeriness which perfectly supports the unfolding nightmare of an impending enemy invasion.
